This review may sound a little negative, but . .well, I'll describe. I do use this machine regularly and enjoy working out on it. But bowflex home gym ain't cheap, and bowflex home gym ain't ideal, either, if you are a complete novice to weightlifting.

Over the years, I have worked out in gyms and I have worked out at home both with older Bowflex power-rod models and with this. I am about the furthest thing there is from a jogging mile of muscle, but I attempt to at least maintain a basic fitness level. Overall, I prefer lifting in a gym with a mate as a spotter, for lots of reasons -- working out with a mate helps educate you about proper lifting method, the buddy method works as motivator, and lots of of the most efficient excercises for muscle gain -- deadlifts, military press, squats -- need either free weights or a dedicated Smith machine, and cannot be performed on this machine.
